Brown & Brooke is an independent estate and lettings agency based in Blackheath, serving homeowners, buyers, landlords and tenants across Blackheath, Greenwich, Charlton and the surrounding South East London property market.
Led by Tony Jenkins, Brown & Brooke provides residential sales, lettings, property management and local property advice for people who want clear communication, honest guidance and a more personal estate agency experience. The agency works across SE3, SE7, SE10 and nearby South East London areas, helping clients sell, let, buy, rent and manage property with confidence.
Tony’s approach is calm, practical and people-first. Having experienced poor service himself as a buyer, seller, landlord and tenant, he believes estate agency should be handled with more care, more clarity and more professional integrity. Brown & Brooke is not trying to be the loudest agency in the room. It is focused on being quietly trustworthy, consistent and known for doing things properly.
““We’re not trying to be the loudest and brashest agents out there. We’re trying to be quietly trustworthy and consistent, and known for doing things properly.””
TONY JENKINS - OWNER
Brown & Brooke was built around a simple belief: estate agency should feel honest, personal and useful. Based on Westcombe Hill, where Blackheath, Greenwich and Charlton meet, the agency supports local people through the important decisions that come with selling, buying, letting and renting property in South East London.
Tony Jenkins’ route into estate agency was not the usual one. Before property, he was a school teacher, and before that he ran one of London’s early cyber cafés when the internet was still in its infancy. That background shaped how he thinks about communication, responsibility and trust.
After experiencing poor service across different sides of property himself, Tony believed the industry could be done better. He started his own estate agency business in 2015 and later took over Brown & Brooke in 2019, bringing together a strong local sales reputation with a growing lettings and property management business.
Brown & Brooke is an independent estate agent in Blackheath, serving clients across Blackheath, Greenwich, Charlton and the surrounding South East London market. The agency supports homeowners, buyers, landlords and tenants through residential sales, lettings, property management and local property advice.
Since taking over Brown & Brooke, Tony Jenkins has continued to build the business around local knowledge, long-term relationships and a practical understanding of what people need when they are making property decisions. The agency has strengthened both its sales and lettings services, including growing its managed lettings portfolio from around 30 properties to approximately 120.
Brown & Brooke works with a wide range of clients, from homeowners preparing to sell and buyers looking for the right area, to landlords needing reliable management and tenants searching for quality rental homes. The agency’s position on Westcombe Hill gives it a strong connection to Blackheath, Greenwich and Charlton, three South East London markets with their own character, property styles and client needs.
The business is owner-led, independent and local. That means clients can expect direct accountability, honest advice and communication from people who understand the area and care about the outcome. Brown & Brooke combines sales, lettings and property management with a clear mission: to help people make better property decisions with confidence, clarity and care.

Where We Work
Brown & Brooke operates across Blackheath, Greenwich, Charlton and the surrounding South East London property market. From period homes near Greenwich Park and village-style streets around Blackheath, to family houses, flats and newer developments across Charlton and the wider area, the agency provides local advice shaped by real market knowledge. The office is positioned where three strong local markets meet: Blackheath, Greenwich and Charlton. This gives Brown & Brooke a practical understanding of different buyer, tenant, seller and landlord needs across SE3, SE7 and SE10.
Blackheath & Greenwich
In this interview on the Leading Estate Agents of the World Podcast, Tony Jenkins sits down to share the story behind Brown & Brooke, his route into estate agency and the thinking that shapes the way he leads the business today.
This is not just a market update or a conversation about property. It is a more personal look at the person behind the agency. Tony talks honestly about life before estate agency, from teaching to running one of London’s early cyber cafés, and how those experiences shaped his views on communication, responsibility and trust.
The conversation also gives a behind-the-scenes view of how Tony thinks about the industry. He reflects on what good estate agency should feel like, why poor communication creates so much frustration, and why agents need to remember that their everyday work is often someone else’s once-in-a-blue-moon moment.
For anyone thinking about selling, buying, letting, renting or investing in Blackheath, Greenwich, Charlton or the surrounding South East London area, this interview offers a chance to understand Tony beyond the job title. It shows what he values, how he approaches clients, and why Brown & Brooke is built around being quietly trustworthy, consistent and known for doing things properly.

who we work with
Brown & Brooke works with homeowners who want more than a property listing. For sellers in Blackheath, Greenwich, Charlton and the surrounding South East London market, our approach is completion-focused. We do not see “under offer” as the finish line. A sale is only successful when the client has moved. Our sales method is built around honest valuation, serious buyer qualification, careful progression and keeping risks visible after an offer is agreed.
Brown & Brooke supports landlords who want their rental property managed responsibly without being pulled into every day-to-day issue. Our managed lettings service is built around acting as a steady day-to-day buffer between landlord, tenant, contractors and compliance requirements. Tenants come to us first, routine matters are handled professionally, records are kept clearly and landlords are involved when their decision or judgement is needed.
Buying a home can feel uncertain, especially across Blackheath, Greenwich and Charlton where different streets, property types, transport links and price points can change the decision-making process. Brown & Brooke supports buyers with clear communication, practical guidance and local insight so they understand the property, the process and the steps ahead.
Brown & Brooke works with tenants who want a clear, fair and professionally managed tenancy in South East London. From the first enquiry through to move-in and ongoing management, our role is to communicate properly, explain the process clearly, handle maintenance issues professionally and make the rental experience feel straightforward.
Some property decisions carry more pressure than others. Brown & Brooke is particularly suited to clients dealing with stressful, uncertain or time-sensitive situations where judgement matters. This may include realistic pricing, buyer qualification, fragile sales, chain management, tenant selection, maintenance issues, landlord decision-making and difficult conversations that need to be handled with care.
The support Brown & Brooke gives is valuable because it is structured, steady and consistent. We focus on explaining the position clearly, managing expectations, identifying risks early and keeping people informed before avoidable chasing begins. Whether someone is selling, buying, letting, renting or managing a property, our role is to bring clarity, calm and proper communication to the process.
